Policy version2026-09-06.v1

Policy

This is the policy you agree to before sending a confession. Its version is stored with every confession, so it is always clear what you said yes to.

What this is — and is not

Confession is an anonymous confession platform run by Foke Studios. You send your words — spoken, written, or from a file — without giving any identity. Selected confessions are edited and shared on social media, in the Foke Studios app, and on this website.

It is not therapy, not counselling, not a helpline, and not a substitute for professional help. We cannot contact you — because we hold no identity for you.

If you are in distress or thinking of harming yourself, talk to Tele-MANAS on 14416 — free, 24×7.

Age

Confession is only for people aged 18 or older. By agreeing, you confirm that you are 18 or older.

Licence — what may happen to your words

By sending a confession you grant Foke Studios a worldwide, royalty-free licence to edit, adapt, translate, voice, and publish the confession in any medium, without attribution or compensation.

Edited versions and the assets made from them (cards, reels, voice-overs) are the property of Foke Studios.

Your original voice is never published, even under this licence (see Anonymity).

The withdrawal code (coming soon) is the only way to retract a confession.

A confession must be your own words. Do not upload something written by someone else, or a file that is not yours.

Moderation — what we publish, and what we do not

Every confession is read or heard by our team. First, anything that could identify a person is removed: a name becomes a relation, a city becomes a region; offices, schools, colonies, vehicle numbers and dates that pinpoint an event are generalised or removed. If a story cannot be told without identifying someone, it is not published.

When editing we keep your voice and your words — we make it clear, short and safe, but never add to it or intensify it.

We never publish:

  • Anything that identifies a third party
  • Any sexual content involving minors
  • Credible, ongoing threats
  • Hate speech, or defamation
  • Spam, fiction, or promotion
  • Anything a reviewer judges could be traced back to you

Confessions about self-harm or deep distress are never published as submitted. They may be shared only after careful editing, with helpline information shown, following safe-messaging guidelines — no method, no glamorisation.

If a confession discloses a serious crime, it is held, not published, and escalated to our counsel within 24 hours. Such a confession is kept under legal hold. We hold no data that identifies the confessor — so we cannot tell anyone who sent it.

Takedown and grievances

If a published confession identifies you or someone else, or breaks this policy, tell us. We review within 48 hours and, where needed, remove the confession — from the website, the app and social media.

Under the IT Rules 2021, you can contact our Grievance Officer:

  • Grievance Officer: [COUNSEL: grievance officer name]
  • Email: [COUNSEL: grievance email]
  • Address: [COUNSEL: registered address]
  • Acknowledgement and resolution timelines: [COUNSEL: grievance timelines]

Your data

We are built on data minimisation: we keep only the confession and a little alongside it — the time it was sent (rounded to the hour), the language, the mode, your consent and the policy version, and an allowlisted campaign name. No name, phone, email, IP address, device, or location.

A voice recording may still be personal data. That is why the consent screen is our notice: the purpose (editing and publishing) is stated there, and the retention is defined — the original recording is deleted 30 days after a decision. This is our position under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its Rules.

The confession text is kept in a database hosted outside India — Neon (Postgres), in Singapore; audio and cards in Vercel's private Blob storage. Nothing in them can identify you.

The full story, step by step, is on the Anonymity page.

Spam and misuse

Rate limits and bot checks run at our host's edge to stop spam and bots. Our application never sees your IP address. Confession may not be used to threaten, defame, or promote.

Changes to this policy

The policy version in force is stored with every confession. When the policy changes, the version changes, and the new version appears at the top of this page. Earlier confessions stay under the policy you agreed to.
